Italian Deli

Sometimes you just crave some Italian deli and your local Sub sandwich franchise will not do the job. I decided to drive an hour from home to find an Italian Market that was open on a Sunday. I would have gone to our local Campinis Italian Market, but sadly it was closed.

I found this pretty amazing market that had everything I needed, Claros in Tustin. They had an impressive variety of deli meats and cheeses; some that I had never seen before.

One of my other purposes in wanting to go to an Italian market was that I wanted to pick up some supplies on my upcoming recipe blog on preparing a Muffaletta Sandwich, New Orleans style.

I still couldn’t leave Claros without getting a sandwich. I got the Grandpa Frank sandwich with the addition of mortadella.

I must say the sandwich did hit the spot! The bread was fresh and deli meats were flavorful. The service was fantastic. My deli man was Ryan, who answered all my questions, gave me samples to compare some of my choices, and generally made my Sunday excursion worth the time and effort to make it to Claros.

The ultimate question becomes, would I go back? Yes, I would if I wanted to go for a casual Sunday drive! However, I could probably, get 75% of the stuff I wanted at my local Italian Market, Campinis. So next time if my cravings are timely, I will drive 15 minutes to visit my local deli. I hope your Sunday was as productive as mine!

As always, thanks for Spending Time in My Kitchen!
