The Perfect Burger!!

It’s Labor Day Weekend and I am in the mood for the Perfect Burger! When people talk about what makes the perfect burger it’s almost like talking about politics or religion. You shouldn’t do it!

All I know is that sometimes there is nothing better than a great burger that can temporarily take care of all my cravings in one sitting. Of course, it all depends on how I am feeling and how extravagant/excessive/unconventional/extreme my taste buds are at the time. There are so many options! What to make?? It can be a simple task. 80/20 beef with a slice of cheese, a little mustard, lettuce, pickle, tomato might be all you need or want.

No simple burger for me today. Let’s start with the burger itself. What weight should the burger be; quarter-pound, 1/2, 1/3 pound? Should it be a smash burger or a thick burger? Maybe I should go extravagant and use Kobe/Wagyu/American Wagyu/Prime. Should I go lean or go with my standard 80/20?

Am I overthinking? Of course, I am.

What are the Ingredients for the Perfect Burger

So what are the ingredients for the Perfect Burger? What cheeses should we use; swiss, smoked gouda, aged cheddar? Maybe I should spice it up and use pepper jack? What about additional accompaniments; bacon, pickles (what kind)? How about a nice gooey egg on top? Grilled or fried onions on top? What kind of bun; brioche, onion, potato?

Now I’m becoming obsessive! I think you get the picture…need…to…take…a…step…back and breathe. Ok, ok…much better! As we all know, there is an endless amount of possible ingredients that can go on a burger. Oh, did I forget to mention how much I like chili/chiles on my burger? Back to the point. What’s my burger of choice today?

My double-double with smoked gouda, grilled pickled onions, guanciale, and foie gras!

Ok, here we go. My burger for today will be a smash burger, guanciale (that’s my bacon of choice today-a little unconventional…I know!) grilled onions, smoked gouda cheese, dill pickle slices, and foie gras (I did mention the possibility of being a little extravagant). Maybe I will slather on a little homemade concoction including a little horseradish, dijon mustard, blue cheese crumbles, and mayo.

Please leave comments below on the ingredients for your perfect burger. And by the way…sometimes all I want is a freaking cheeseburger with a little mustard and pickles. That’s all!
