Houseboat Trip

When is a houseboat trip not just your typical houseboat trip? It’s when a group of guys get together every year for the last 39 years to experience reconnecting and sharing friendship, drinking some beer, smoking cigars, and indulging in great food!

Obviously, for an event that has been going on for that many years, close friends will have passed and are no longer with us. On the other hand there are sons of the original OG’S and others that have joined the good fun helping to keep the desire high for all of us to come back year after year!

Now for the important issues…meals for the weekend.  I certainly wouldn’t call this group snobbish. We have no problems with red solo cups and eating off of paper plates.

That does not mean we plan meals around cup of noodles and microwave chicken sandwiches.

Bowls of poke for the evening!
Some seared yellow fin tuna with a spicy mayo!

We eat very well and some of our tasty meals included  Tuna poke  and seared yellowfin tuna contributed by Jamie, prime ribeye steaks with Caesars salad with plenty of fixings and homemade dressing. Add a fried turkey and prime rib roast, prepared by our expert Peter, to our list of culinary indulgences and you have a great weekend menu.

We might even of had hot dogs!  What!! You Say!!  Hot dogs?? That doesn’t sound very adventuresome. Our expert hot dog maker, Jamie made elote and Sonoran style hot dogs which were bacon wrapped, with peppers, tomatoes, onions, and salsa.

A great bite!

I have not even mentioned our spectacular daily breakfasts which you could find at only the best of diners! No one went hungry on our trip. And if they did, it was their own fault! So next year will be the 40th year of the Lake Mead Houseboat trips. I certainly expect next year to be EPIC!! Thank you Bob for being the Captain ensuring that all works out and to everyone else who contributes in their own way for helping to make these trips so freaking fun!!

Can’t really end this blog without thanking Bobby and Dave for bringing their boats to help us celebrate all that is Lake Mead. The Happy Hour rides and jaunts off to Hoover Dam and every nook and cranny in Lake Mead all help to make our trips memorable.

As always, thanks for Spending Time in My Kitchen!
