Altisima Winery – One of the New Wineries in Temecula Valley Wine Country

I have been known to enjoy a little wine in my time. So Nancy and I decided to try out the wine at Altisima winery which is one of Temecula Valley’s newest wineries. We were impressed at what a great job the 8 local family owners did in putting together such a beautiful facility. You can check their website here.

Their outside patio is a nice comfortable setting to view the vineyard and enjoy the food from their Spanish-themed restaurant Gaspar. We had the calamares fritos which were perfectly fried. It was served with a very tasty jalapeno tarter sauce.

Our main meals were the Summer Salad with Salmon and their Altisima Burger. If I am going to eat fries, they better be crispy. It’s a me thing! It’s always extra crispy or not at all. The fries were perfect! If you are in the mood for a burger, you won’t be disappointed. Short rib-brisket blend with bacon and caramelized onions. What’s not to like! So good!

On their website, they describe their intent is to “celebrate the history and heritage of one of California’s oldest wine regions, by paying homage to the Spanish captain who memorialized the region”. The winery has a definite Spanish theme as reflected in the food they serve and the wine they produce.

Brad was a great help in describing the wines we tasted that day.

Don’t be afraid to ask your questions about the wine you are tasting. Brad was our wine aficionado for the day. His last name is Stuart which might be a familiar name to many of our long-time visitors to the Temecula Wine Country (Stuart Cellars). All the staff at the winery were friendly and helpful which made our visit so much better.

One of our favorite wines that we sampled was their full-bodied Fortaleza. This is an excellent version of their Tempranillo. Another favorite was their La Reina, a GSM Blend of 33.3% Grenache, 33.3% Sangiovese, 33.3% Mourvédre. Check out their Lucido if you are looking for a softer wine which is a blend comprised of 40% Cabernet Franc, 40% Grenache, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon.

We had a very enjoyable day of relaxation listening to music, sampling the food and wine at one of Temecula’s newest wineries. You will want to check them out. As always, thanks for Spending Time in My Kitchen!
