Great Appetiser! Brie Orange-Cranberry Bites!

New Year’s Eve is coming up fast and my Brie Orange-Cranberry Bites is a perfect appetizer to prepare for the night. It is quick and it’s easy. You and your family will love it!

Look in your local market for the Pillsbury Crescent Dough Sheet. It is perfect for this recipe. You can find the brie at your local Barons, Trader Joe’s, or even Costco. What really makes the cranberry sauce extra special is the addition of fresh orange juice and orange zest.

You will need to cut up the dough sheet into approximately 20 – 2 inch squares and then place them into your mini-muffin tray.

Place a tiny square of brie into the middle of the cup and top off with your cranberry sauce.

Place your tray of bites into the oven for about 15 minutes. You will have achieved an appetizer that is light and airy with a very satisfying sweet-tart taste from the cranberry sauce along with a creamy, nutty taste from the brie.

As always, thanks for Spending Time in My Kitchen!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 Lb 1/2 Brie round

  • 1 Tube 1 Pillsbury Crescent Sheet

  • Rosemary to top off your brie bite

  • Cranberry Sauce Ingredients
  • 12 Oz 12 Oz Fresh/frozen cranberries

  • 1 Cup 1 Orange juice (fresh is best)

  • Zest from one orange

  • 1 Cup 1 Sugar

  • 1/2 Cup 1/2 Water

  • Salt to taste (Optional-taste sauce when it has thickened and add if needed.)

Directions

  • Place your cranberries into a large sauté pan over low to medium-low heat.
  • Place remaining cranberry sauce ingredients into the same pan. Stir and combine well.
  • Cook for about 15 minutes, or until all the cranberries have “popped” and the sauce has thickened to a “jell” like consistency. Take the cranberries off the heat and let cool.
  • Open up your crescent tube. Take out the dough and lay it on your cutting board. Cut equal slices until you have about 20 – 2 inch squares of dough and place them in your mini-muffin tray.
  • Add a bit of brie to each cup and top off with your cooled off cranberry sauce
  • An option is to add a few rosemary stems to each brie bite.
  • Place your tray of brie bites into the oven; set at 350° and cook until they have a nice brown edge to them. Approximately 10 minutes.
  • Enjoy!
