It’s a Cleaning Day at the Frank Household and since I need some additional incentive to continue, I think a refreshing glass of Sangria is in order! Sangria is the perfect drink; fruity, sweet, and a little tart. If desired, add some of your favorite carbonated water to top off your drink and life is good!
The question is…what wine should I use for my sangria. The choices are endless. Obviously, it should be a wine you would enjoy drinking. It doesn’t mean that you should take that $100 bottle of red that has been sitting on your wine rack that you have been saving for your anniversary. No need to splurge on a drink that includes a lot of other ingredients. If red wine is your choice, make sure it is a low tannic wine. Wine with heavy tannins could make your sangria bitter. Pinot Noir, a Spanish Rioja, Grenache, or Tempranillo would be some good choices.
If white wine is your desire, go for a Riesling, Pinot Grigio, or Sauvignon Blanc.
By the way, sipping my Sangria is perfect to enjoy as you sit by your pool in the summer as it is when you are taking a break during housework on any day of the year!
As always, thanks for Spending Time In My Kitchen!
